Welcome to my
Entertainment Section! Or at least to information about movies
for now...
In the process of
revamping my webpage, I decided that the forum title "Movies" was way too
confining, even though that's the majority of what I'll be adding here. So
as you can see, I've now changed this forum to "Entertainment".
Most likely, I'll get to the point where I'm bored with this
website and ignore it like I've already done (just being honest, here). In
the meanttime, I'm gonna try and add a few things of interest for those of you
who actually decide to look around.
The
big movie coming out (for me, anyway) is X-Men2.
I grew up a big fan of comic books, and let's be honest, the Mutants of Marvel
were definitely some of the coolest characters going. Of course, since
then, Marvel has exploited the whole concept, and the vast majority of their
titles have something to do with mutants, which is just annoying...oooo... I
feel a rant coming on for the soapbox! Anyway, the official US opening for
this movie is May 4, 2003. Somewhere, hell is a bit chilly, cuz for the
first time that I can think of, opening day in Norway is earlier then in the
states, April 30! So I can actually write a review of a movie before
everyone who reads it has actually seen the movie! Hehe it's the little
things in life that make it good...
Also
coming out shortly is The Matrix Reloaded, the second of the Matrix trilogy.
Set for a release date of May 15 2003, the
official website is offering
a MASSIVE trailer.. 100mb download thank you very much. With a resolution
of 1000x540, and 24 frames a second, it's probably worth the time. The
first movie, Matrix, was a fantastic story, and easily Keanu Reaves' best work
to date. Since most people have had the opportunity to see the film, and
the DVD version of it has been in release for several years now, I figure this
movie with have a blockbuster opening.
Another
film I'm looking forward to is
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, opening July
2, 2003. Should make for great opening weekend, I imagine. John
Connor is now 22, and still trying to lay low from the killer machines.
He's been successful since T2, apparently... but that's about to change.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is back, joined by Nick Stahl as John Connor and
Kristianna Loken as the evil T-X robot. (Hmmm.. T-X=Terminator vs Xmen?)
Michael
Douglas has two movies coming out over the course of the next month or so.
First up is the comedy It Runs
in the Familly, which costars his real-life father, Kirk Douglas;
mother, Diana Douglas; and son, Cameron Douglas. I'm actually looking
forward to this one. Next out of the gate is the remake The
In-Laws May 23.
The original starred Alan Arkin and Peter Faulk. The updated version has
Mike taking over Peter Faulk's CIA character, against Albert Brooks' as the
podiatrist father of the bride. Dunno about this one.
Of
course, if you don't wanna go see the In-Laws, there's always Jim Carrey's new
offering, Bruce Almighty.
Bruce Nolan (Carrey) is a whiny, complaining frump.
During a rant, he blames God (Morgan Freeman) for the
world's wrongs - only to be confronted by the Almighty himself, who gives Bruce
divine powers to see if he can run the world any better.
Ya, this could be really funny, or a complete bomb. No middle ground with
Jim Carrey...
And on DVD
One
of my favorite gangster movies, Once Upon a Time in America has just been
announced for release on DVD June 10! This 1984 movie, directed by Sergio
Leone and starring Robert DeNiro and James Woods was largely ignored by the
public when it came out. It tells the story of some small time hoods
growing up in 1920's New York. If you haven't seen this film, and you
liked the Godfather, I HIGHLY recommend it.
