I'm sorry,
training is cancelled for today (02/04/04) and Sunday (04/04/04). That
cold I was fighting on Wednesday got the better of me.
For
those of you who are working on a logo for our t-shirts/caps... the picture to
the left is the bujinkan symbol (click on it for a larger version).. it's
actually two separate kanji characters. Could you try recreating it, in
front of a snow capped mountain?

WOW!!!
Well, this last
class was a surprise for me... 5 new students joined us!!! With luck
you'll stick around long enough for me to get to know you all. I don't
intend on allowing more then 20 students total, and we seem to be fast
approaching that milestone!
PLEASE
NOTE!!!!! You have asked for more training... check the schedule to the
right!!!! I'm willing, if you are.
If you have ANY
plans on going to the Kaigousuru 2004, PLEASE LET ME KNOW NOW!!!! There
isn't alot of room left available, and I need to send in the applications as
soon as possible (I'll be sending mine out on Friday, regardless if anyone else
gives me theirs or not).
I'll be pictures of our training group (I took 2 or 3 Sunday, but I'm too lazy
to upload them at the moment) to our
images
page...
I encourage all
of you to register at Kutaki no Mora, this
site is run by several shidoshi from Japan, and has perhaps THE best forum about
Bujinkan Taijutsu. May I suggest when you do, you spend some time reading
posts, and .. for now.. address any questions you may have to me, prior to
posting them? I'd rather we do it that way to avoid embarrassing yourself,
me or Pappa-San (Ed Martin, who is responsible for us).
I'm tossing
around the idea of having t-shirts, sweaters, and caps made up for us.
I've already looked into the cost, and it's not that expensive (about 110kr for
tshirt, 100kr for cap... forgot to check the price on a sweater), but I haven't
quite figured out what they'd look like... and so, here's where you guys come
in. If you have some ideas, PLEASE feel free to suggest them. I have no artistic talent whatsoever, so if someone can draw, and is
willing to work on it for us, I'd appreciate it. Probably be worth a
t-shirt from me ('bout all I can afford).

I would also like
to thank our 2 9th kyu visitors from Tromso for dropping in a few weeks ago.
It was nice having you here, and hopefully we'll come up and visit you soon!
Well, time is
growing short for the upcoming Kaigousuru 2004 in Sweden! Please make
sure, if you're planning on attending, to have your registration info back to me
ASAP! Based on the current exchange rate, the cost of the seminar is
1183Nkr (1444kr if you include lunch for Sat/Sun, and sleeping at the dojo
fri-monday). It looks as though the train will cost us 1000kr from narvik
to stockholm, round trip, so we're looking at about 2500kr for the weekend.
Don't forget you'll want to do some spending money to cover dinner, etc.
So it won't hurt to have anywhere from 500-1500kr in your pocket. This is
a massive training opportunity!!! There will be at least (3) 14dan
instructors there, and (5) 8-13dan instructors!
I'll be putting
ALOT more emphasis on ukemi (falls & rolls), and plan to work on the
Tenchijin Ryaku no Maki extensively, in order to get
us ready to participate in the Kaigousuru seminar. If you have any
questions, or would like to train on something specific on the list, please let
me know! I can ALWAYS find time for training!
Now, about
uniforms. I would like to see all of you in uniforms as soon as you can!
I realize they're expensive, but remember a good quality uniform will last you
for years, whereas a cheap one will last you months. You do NOT have to
invest in all the training gear, all at once. I don't expect that.
But I DO expect you to get your uniform, belt, and patch. If nothing else,
I consider it a sign of your commitment to train... There is no cost to
train, at the moment, so use this time to equip yourself! Our trial period
with Trimloftet ends May 1st. Prior to that, I'll find out what it will cost
us to continue training there.
I recently found
a website that has information on Japan from the point of view of a Bujinkan
Taijutsu student... click
here to
take a look!

Little by little,
seems the class is starting to grow. Yesterday's training session was
attended by four students, and we got a nice surprise visit from two students
who are training in Tromso! The training group is now open to anyone
interested in attending.
At the moment I'm
still debating what to charge students. As far as I'm concerned, I'd be
just as happy to keep it free, however our grace period with Trimloftet is
quickly drawing to an end. I don't know how much they'll be asking for.
Kaigousuru 2004
is quickly approaching. I hope everyone is looking forward to attending as
much as I am! It looks like there will be some great instructors there...
so should be ALOT of great info available. It appears that we will be able
to sleep in the Dojo (for those of us too broke to afford a real hotel) for a
small fee, but start looking for travel arrangements!!! The earlier you book the
flight, the better chance for a deal!
Please note!!!! I
have updated the pricelist. All of the items listed are purchased from
www.fighter.no.
You're welcome to check out the whole catalog, and let me know if there's
something you wish to order.

Well, we're finally all set to begin
training! We will be at Trimloftet (used to be Lorry), on the 2nd floor.
The first class will be Sunday, Nov. 2 at kl1545 (the class starts at 4, but I
want to make sure everyone has time to change and be ready). In addition,
I will be making myself available for training Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from
kl2100 to kl2300.
Please remember to bring clothes to
roll around in, as we'll be working on rolls, breakfalls, stretching exercises,
and stances for the most part.
Please Look at the pricelist to the
left! This will give you an idea of what the equipment will cost.
All equipment must be ordered, so everything needs to be paid for before hand.
Although we get a discount, that doesn't include shipping, so the prices are
only marginally lower then what you'll see on
www.fighter.no.
I look forward to training with all
of you! If you have a question, email it to me, or send me an SMS (90 85 33 54).

Welcome to the Bujinkan
Training Group, Harstad (Norway). Like the other pages I work on, this
site is a reflection of my interests and philosophy. No part of my pages
does that more than this one. Take a look in the
Articles
section for more information about Ninjutsu in general and the Bujinkan in
particular.
I would particularly like to welcome
my fellow students, Arild Andreassen, Daniel Bjørkås, Hans Hovde and Ørjan
Nilsen. It is because of them that I have returned to something I truly
love. I hope that I can be worthy of the trust and faith they've put in
me. Hopefully together we will grow in the art.
I'd like to thank the other Dojo's up
here in the north country. I suspect there will be quite a few training
sessions together, especially seminars! Visit them
here to view upcoming events in Northern
Norway!
The martial art known as Ninjutsu, has been a part of who I am even before I
met my first teacher in the art. I guess I should thank Stephen K. Hayes
for introducing me to Ninjutsu with his many books and magazine articles.
He was a big reason for the "ninja boom" about 15 years ago, by
bringing this art to the U.S...
Since Shidoshi Hayes introduced us to the art, there have been lots of people
who have helped guide Ninjutsu... Charles Daniel comes first to mind... quickly
joined by Ed Martin (who will be teaching at Kaigousuru 2004, click the ad
link above!!), Dick Severance, Bud Malstrom, Jack Hoban, and a host of other people
who have taken Ninjutsu to heart and shown us the way to learn it.
Now, you may never have heard of any of these people. In fact, with the
exception of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" or maybe the
"American Ninja" movies, you may know nothing at all about the
art! Well... the movies bare little resemblance to the truth. Very
little, in fact.
So, again. Welcome to my site. I hope you will gain some
knowledge here, and perhaps be interested enough to find out more. Don't
forget to go to my Ninpo Links for other really good sites.
Although it is probably overambitious of me, I am endeavoring to make as
complete an information resource to people of all levels in the study of our art
as possible. From beginners to black belts. This site is most
definitely a work of love, and one that will be continually updated, from now
on.
