And another webpage needing updating!
Well, the Harstad training group has been moved. We're training once a
week, on Wednesday's from 20.30 to 22.00. The gym is the green building,
across the street from COOP Prix.

Had three
things that I thought would be good to add...
First... HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY TORJE!!!! Maybe next
weekend I'll take you out for a beer...
Second,
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm still
getting the hang of the breathing exercises. For
those who liked Ed Martin's Breathing exercises, but are having issues
remembering them (there are 6 different exercises total), check out this link
from the Ninja Summit 2004
in Texas!
As Pappa-san pointed out, they're worth doing on multiple
levels. Relaxation, muscle movement, and concentration. Enjoy!
Breathing
Exercises Low Quality (For Dialup)
Breathing
Exercises High Quality (Broadband)
Lastly, I would like anyone who's considering going to next
year's Kaigousuru to register ASAP (click on the banner at the top of the
page!). Anyone who registers before the first of the year will save about
140kr. That may not seem like much, but every little bit helps. The
cost of traveling by train from Harstad to Stockholm was about 1000kr last year,
but I took the cheap fair (760kr for just a chair, for a bed it would have been
about 1400kr). The drawback being, if you take the train, it adds about 3
days to the trip (leave thursday, to arrive friday, leave monday to arrive home
on tuesday).
And here's a reminder - there are two Bujinkan forums that I
lurk on:
MSN Ninja Club - this is a forum that Ed "Papa-san" helps to administer, so
it's a good way to get answers to your questions. You'll need to register,
just mention that you are a student of Ed's and my own when you do so.
Kutaki no
Mora - this forum is administered in Japan, and is an EXCELLENT source of
information and discussion by Bujinkan members from all around the world.

Okay.. wow. That's the only adjective I can use to
truly describe how I feel. Starting from the time he came to town on
Wednesday, Shihan Ed Martin was demonstrating principles and techniques to make
our Taijutsu just better and better.
To recap a bit, after getting Ed squared away in his hotel
(Grand Nordic Hotel), we met the class at the dojo. We started to head out
to Peppe's Pizza, but stopped at his hotel room to show some of the items that
he'd taken with him for us, including caps, t-shirts, sweaters, and jackets from
the 2002 USA Tai Kai with Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi. He had DVD's, training
weapons (bokken's, hanbo's, tanto's, a couple of cane's - yes, walking
implements!), and even had a nice little "toy" of his own design, which he calls
a "duck" because of its shape.
Honestly, the weekend felt like it flew by to me! The
highlight must have been promotions! On Friday, October 1st, I was awarded
my Shodan (1st degree black belt), and the following students moved up to 8th
kyu: Steffen Aas, Robert Balteskard, Per
Nyrud-Kaas, and Puyon
A. Renani! Congratulations!
For those who did not get a promotion, know that I feel
you're very close, and more promotions will be forthcoming shortly!
We had the opportunity to meet several Norwegian Bujinkan
members, most especially shihan Morten Østenstad (13th dan), Jan Erik Wang (3rd
dan), Gøran Gronvold (3rd dan), Jonathan Andreassen (2nd kyu), Tom Arne
Danielsen (3rd kyu), and Erlend Botheim (9th kyu). We also met Odin
Windgaard, who came from Lofoten with an interest in learning more about our
art. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves, and we'll have the opportunity to
train with you again soon!
Also, for the record, there will be no training on Monday,
October 4 due to utter exhaustion on all our parts!
